Terms of Competition:
1. The Championship will comprise of two rounds of 18 holes, 36 holes regular stroke play in total.
2. Players must hold a WHS handicap index of 6.4 or below.
3. All players must be member of a golf club affiliated to a Midland County Golf Organisation.
4. The number of players shall be limited to 66. In the event of applications exceeding this number, entry for the higher handicap competitors shall be decided by ballot. Unsuccessful entries will be added to a list of reserves. If the level of entries falls below 60 then the Committee reserve the right to amend the competition prize fund accordingly.
5. The Committee reserves the right to refuse an entry without having to give a reason.
6. In the event of a player having to withdraw after the draw has been made, the entry fee will not be refunded.
7. All disputes will be decided by the Championship Committee or delegated Officers, whose decision will be final.
8. A tie for first place will be decided by a play-off at the Committee’s discretion, ties for all other places will be decided by scorecard count-back using the last 18, 9, 6, 3, 1, 15, 12, 10 holes.
9. Pace of Play will be controlled using the Pace of Play policy and published times.
10. Entries can be made ‘online’ or by post.
11. Entries by post are to be made on the Official Entry Form and must be accompanied by the Entry Fee of £50.00 and must be in the possession of the Administrator (see below) no later than the closing date. Late or incomplete entry forms or entries without the entry fee will not be accepted.
12. The ‘starting sheet’ will be posted on the MGU website, www.midlandgolfunion.co.uk and emailed to entrants. If you require a hard copy, please include a SAE with your postal entry.
13. The start sheet will be set out in reverse handicap order (lowest out last).
14. Players playing in the Midland Closed Championship may also enter the Midland Club Team championship which will be decided by the lowest aggregate score of two players entering from the same Club over 36 holes – Team names to be submitted prior to commencing Round 1. Ties shall be decided using scorecard count-back over the last 18,9,6,3, 1, 15, 12, 10 holes.
15. Neither the Host Golf Club nor the Midland Golf Union Ltd. can accept any responsibility for thefts and accidents, and players should carry their own insurance cover.
16. Players must protect themselves in Health and Safety matters, especially should there be a danger from lightning when play must stop immediately, and not be resumed until the danger has passed. Also, if there is a long blast of a klaxon play must again stop immediately, and not be resumed until two short blasts, repeated, of the siren are heard.
